Boorowa Council signs Small Business Friendly Council Charter
Last year, Boorowa Council was one of 36 councils in the state to sign up to the NSW Government's Small Business Friendly Councils Charter program – a partnership of the Office of Small Business Commissioner and the NSW Business Chamber that will promote small business-friendly councils.
"Since launching in September 2014, the number of councils participating has reached over 60, which represents over 315,000 small businesses and almost 50% of all NSW small businesses," said Minister for Small Business, Mr John Barilaro on 14 April 2015.
The charter aims to foster and support small businesses in each local government area and signing up has seen Council make a number of commitments to this sector, including:
- with an on time payment policy and agree to report on this
- and implement new strategies to improve business processes
- to refer any business disputes to the Office of the Small Business Commissioner's Mediation and Dispute Resolution Unit
- create a business advisory committee.
