Boorowa Council Re-elect Mayor and Deputy Mayor

At the Boorowa Ordinary Council meeting held 28 September 2015, Mayor Wendy Tuckerman was re-elected unopposed to the position of Mayor, whilst Deputy Mayor Chris Corcoran was also re-elected unopposed as Deputy Mayor.

Although it has been a difficult 12 months for Council, Mayor Tuckerman praised the continued commitment of staff and Councillors alike in delivering for the community.

“I know at times it has been a challenging year, particularly with the continued uncertainty surrounding the future of our Council, however the staff and Councillors have continued to focus on delivering outcomes for the community and positioning ourselves positively for the future” she said.

“Personally I feel the past 12 months have been my most challenging as Mayor and I thank Councillors for the continued support over the past 12 months and look forward to again ensuring over the coming 12 months that we are focused on what is best for the future of our community” she said.

Throughout the year Council has delivered on a number of major achievements including the construction of Tarengo Bridge, major improvements on Frogmore and Rugby Roads, replacement of the pedestrian bridge over Ryans Creek and the redevelopment of Dr Kelf Park.

“It is projects like Dr Kelf Park which include partnerships between Council and the community that deliver lasting outcomes that really make the more challenging parts of the role rewarding” said Mayor Tuckerman.

“Over the next 12 months Councils major focus will remain on ensuring the outcomes of the Local Government Reform process are positive. At the same time we hope to deliver a range of infrastructure projects that will position us strongly for the future” she said
