BOOROWA COUNCIL COMMENCES UPGRADING WATER MAINS
Boorowa Council has recently commenced upgrading water mains in the vicinity of Jugiong and Long Streets.
The works are scheduled to be finalised prior to Christmas with some service disruptions expected during the works.
According to Councils General Manager, plans are in place to minimize disruptions.
“The work involves laying a new section of main down Jugiong Street from Long Street as well as a new section of line down Tip Road, with a new connection to the Town Supply Reservoir. Minor disruptions are expected to occur at the final stages when new pipes are connected to the old pipes” he said.
It is hoped that the new connection at the reservoir will assist in minimizing chlorine level fluctuations in the town water supply.
“The old system utilized a common inlet and outlet to the reservoir meaning there was limited mixing of the water in the reservoir. The new configuration will see water pumped from the treatment plant enter the top of the reservoir and exit at the base resulting in better circulation” said Mr McMahon.
“Whilst Council aims to minimize the impact on the community during works, there will be some impact and we will endeavour to keep the community informed via radio and social media with residents most affected notified directly” he said.
Residents are encouraged to contact Council if they have further enquiries.
