Hilltops Welcomes Fixing Country Roads Funding
Hilltops Council received advice this week from the NSWGovernment that it will be receiving a much welcomed roads funding boost through the Fixing Country Roads Program. ‘We have been advised we will be receiving a total of $2,069,800 spread across four projects with a total project value of $2,755,700’ said Hilltops Administrator Wendy Tuckerman.
The projects to be funded are road pavement rehabilitation and widening on MR 380 Cunningar Road valued at $1.2m, pavement widening on MR241 Murringo Road valued at $521,000, various bridge structural assessments valued at $263,000 and widening of McHenrys Creek Bridge on Henry Lawson Way valued at $771,700.
Hilltops Council Administrator,Wendy Tuckerman said the funding was a welcome boost to the region and the new Council. ‘The funds allocated are based on grant applications submitted by the former Councils with Hilltops Council now taking carriage of the delivery of these extremely important projects for our region. The projects will allow us to open up more sections of road to higher productivity vehicles and get a better handle on the load carrying capacity of our bridges” she said.
