Improvements at Boorowa Playground

Work is currently underway at the Boorowa Playground in Market Street to improve amenity, safety and parking. The initial stage of the project involved removal of an old cracked and dangerous section of pathway and steps.

In an effort to reclaim the space, Council has begun construction on amphitheatre style seating to overlook the playground, duck ponds and recreational grounds and increase the area’s flexibility and functionality.

Not only will this solution offer an area for parents to watch children in the playground, it will also be a site where locals and visitors alike can congregate for an array of activities.

“The area was unsafe, difficult to maintain and generally unusable. The works underway will make the area far more pleasant and user friendly and will hopefully attract use by local schools or even performers” said Boorowa Mayor Wendy Tuckerman.

More recently, work has commenced to reconstruct and formalize a carpark adjacent to the playground.

“Optimising available parking within the CBD area is a priority and the current project will not only increase the overall space for parking but also give the playground area a real facelift” said Mayor Tuckerman.
